NPA Strengthens Partnership with NLNG to Boost Export Trade

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening operational collaboration aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s export trade.

During a visit to the NPA Headquarters in Marina on Monday, January 21, 2025, the Chief Executive Officer of NLNG, Dr. Phillip Mshelbila, met with the Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho. Dr. Mshelbila expressed gratitude for the NPA’s ongoing support and called for deeper collaboration as NLNG works to expand its production capacity to meet rising global demand for LNG.

In response, Dr. Dantsoho stated, “Guided by the mandate of the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for the NPA to support the Federal Government’s push for increased export orientation, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to your efforts.

“Since its inception, Nigeria LNG (NLNG) has been a vital contributor to Nigeria’s economic growth and export success. We are committed to further strengthening this partnership.”

He further highlighted that Nigeria’s trade surplus of ₦5.81 trillion (approximately $3.7 billion) in the third quarter of 2024, as reported by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) in their foreign trade alert, was largely driven by exports facilitated through the platforms of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
