Comptroller Frank Onyeka, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Tin Can Island Port Command, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has outlined his strategy to achieve and exceed the revenue target assigned to the Command.
He emphasized that this goal will be accomplished by promoting trade facilitation, ensuring that all activities focus on legitimate trade and business operations.
Comptroller Frank Onyeka has expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for entrusting him with the leadership of the Tin Can Island Port Command. He pledged to justify this trust through dedicated service and results-driven leadership.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the executive leadership of the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN), who came to welcome him to the Command, Comptroller Onyeka revealed his commitment to fostering teamwork among his officers to ensure the Command meets and exceeds its objectives.

“I am focused on facilitating trade, but only legitimate trade,” he stated. “Coming from a revenue-focused perspective, my priority is to meet and surpass our targets. However, my core aim is to ensure strict compliance through thorough cargo examination. I have urged my officers to prioritize this process because proper examination determines whether goods should proceed or not.”
Comptroller Onyeka also emphasized his commitment to seamless operations, noting that once containers are properly inspected, the workflow should progress smoothly, ensuring efficiency and accountability.
Comptroller Frank Onyeka has reaffirmed his commitment to achieving success at the Tin Can Island Port Command by fostering collaboration among key units within the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). He highlighted the involvement of the Customs Intelligence Unit (CIU), the Valuation Unit, and other relevant departments, expressing optimism that, with a united effort, the Command will contribute to realizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
He extended heartfelt gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for the confidence placed in him, vowing to live up to expectations. “I am deeply grateful to our indefatigable Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his management team. I will ensure he has no reason to doubt his decision in assigning me to this role,” he stated.
Comptroller Onyeka also pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, Assistant Comptroller General Dera Nnadi, by further strengthening the Command’s operational efficiency and performance. “I am determined to make the CGC and the entire NCS proud through diligent service and results-driven leadership,” he concluded.

Comptroller Frank Onyeka commended his predecessor, Assistant Comptroller General Dera Nnadi, for his remarkable achievements in various areas, including anti-smuggling efforts, revenue generation, and infrastructure development. He also acknowledged ACG Nnadi’s outstanding public relations skills, particularly his strong rapport with the media, which he plans to build upon.
“His public relations were top-notch, which I’m going to leverage. He had an excellent relationship with the media, thanks to his background, and I intend to do even better in that regard,” Comptroller Onyeka stated.
Earlier, the President of the Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria (MARAN), Mr. Godfrey Bivbere, pledged the association’s full support for Comptroller Onyeka and the Tin Can Island Port Command. He reaffirmed MARAN’s commitment to partnering with the Command to meet its goals and assured the same level of support that was extended to the former CAC.
